REEL TO REALITY FESTIVAL

Fri May 31, 18:00 - Sat Jun 1, 21:00

Troyeville House

ABOUT

After 3 incredible years of film festival hosting, we deepen our curatorial theme around a subject that permeates throughout african diasporic discourse, anthropology, literary and cinema. This year’s program and curation will be housed under the central theme, HOME.Home is variously described in the literature as conflated with or related to house, family, haven, self, gender, and journeying.”

The main festival days are to be held in Johannesburg,  in a space that resembles a physical house, with each room exploring a different sub theme under the main theme, and articulated through curation including art direction, music and anchored by a film festival showcase. We are focusing on films from emerging filmmakers that articulate the nuances and sociopolitical landscapes that shape our understandings of home, identity, community, displacement, and histories.

In addition, the festival is excited to continue their pop up screenings as an extension of the main festival in Cape Town and Durban.

The Johannesburg Festival is set to take place on the 31 May - 2 June 2024.

Cape Town and Durban screenings are set to take place on the 7-9 June 2024.

Tickets are R120 online and R150 at the door (limited).
